ASB: Blurb
Here's the blurb for A STARTER BOYFRIEND.
* * *
The duty of a starter boyfriend is not to fall in love.
Zoe Rayne is happy. She’s making a name for herself at work, has found peace and acceptance of her body, and has become a role model for Paige, a girl she was paired with in the Big Sister, Little Sister program. Although some people think she’d be happier if she were dating, Zoe is determined to stand by her belief that you don’t need a man to complete your life.
Kissing, cuddling, and engaging in other sexual activities must be consensual.
When Colton Philips is presented with the starter boyfriend contract, he doesn’t think much of it. As he sees it, the agreement along with his thriving landscaping business are just the distractions he needs while waiting for his ex-fiancĂ©e to return and marry him. Never mind that it’s been two years since she left him at the altar and ran away to Paris with their dog.
The starter boyfriend will consider kissing Ms. Rayne should he feel so inclined.
For both Zoe and Colton, the contract is just one big, laughable joke. The whimsy of a twelve-year-old and a sister eager to see the people they care for most find love. They can’t deny it when sparks begin to fly, but is Colton in a place to accept new love and how long is Zoe willing to wait?

Feedback is welcome.

Picking up on "Around the World Tonight"
Now that A STARTER BOYFRIEND is finished (I'm still planning on an early August release), I've been focusing on AROUND THE WORLD TONIGHT, which I started several months ago. To refresh myself with this story, I've decided to edit the first 126 pages that I wrote. So far, I'm pleased! Haha. It's always nice to return to something and think "hey, this doesn't suck after all!" So, my goal is to finish the first draft of this novel by the end of the year (if not before) so that I can hopefully haven't something new out next year.
Here's the updated cover for ASB. I'm definitely going with the picture (sorry non fans!). I'm still not 100% in love with
the font, but I think it's getting better. I still need to work on the blurb. I kinda wish I had the old one from my Fiction Press days! Because the cover's not as "romantic," I'll need to spice up the blurb a little.
Now, I know what some of you are wondering... what about KM6? Well, the idea is still there but the drive to write is not. Instead of forcing the story out, I'm going to let it marinate a little longer. Hopefully I'll feel ready to work on it after I complete the draft of this new novel. It's probably good for me to work on new things. Sometimes I wonder if it's a mistake to even extend the Estela and Moo series with more books. I've said to myself from the beginning that I wouldn't do it unless I had a solid story arch. In the beginning I did feel like I had something, but not so much any more. Plus, I do want to finish the supernatural YA trilogy that I have planned (book 1 is finished, but needs massive editing).
Oh yeah... I have been seriously thinking about offering the KM series in paperback format. A lot of work needs to happen before I take this plunge, but I think it will be the next step for Estela and Moo. (It will likely happen much faster than KM6 getting finished.)
The good news in all of this is that at least I'm working again. I'm hoping that means that life is balancing out and I'm on the upswing. Although, I do still need to find my own place to live. One monstrous task at a time.

Draft Cover: ASB
I'm in that fun excited phase where I'm getting close to releasing another book. I managed to complete my Nook edits for A Starter Boyfriend and I'm now plugging them into the computer before I lose them again. I've also been playing around with the cover. I'm pretty sure this is it, but for now it's just a draft (I'm not sure about the font).
Let me know your thoughts! A blurb is coming soon. My goal is to have this one out by August.

Update!
So, it's been FAR too long since my last post. My apologies. I am disappointed to report that I haven't really been doing much that would keep me from blogging. It's been a bit of a crazy few months--lots of changes going on. I feel like I'm typically pretty good with change, but in reality, big changes are difficult for me. I started a new job at work (back in October, but it's been a wild ride so far), my sister is pregnant with twins, I'm looking for a new place to live, I've put 15 pounds back on and I'm eating everything in the world, and I'm trying to decide what I really want to be doing with my life. What I would give for the financial freedom to write all day long. I'd be popping out a new novel every few months. The last time I wrote a novel I was unemployed. I'm not saying I want THAT to happen again, but I miss writing. What I basically need to do is just force myself to take 1 hour of my 24-hour day and just sit down and write with no interruptions.
It's difficult to focus on much of anything with there are so many balls in the air. However, I have been making progress on my edit of A Starter Boyfriend. I finished my hardcopy edit a while a go -and I'm now editing on my Nook (page 147 of 312 pages). After this, I'm printing it out for another read (I hope to give it to my sister, but she's literally about to pop out some twins).
I haven't written any more on KM6.
I also haven't written any more on AROUND THE WORLD TONIGHT.
I haven't written.
My boss sent around a motivational video about leadership last week. I need to take the message here and apply it to many areas of my life. Especially, I need to apply it to the one thing that really makes me happy. Writing.

New Year, New Goals
Happy New Year, everyone!
I have a feeling that the beginning of this year is going to be a little chaotic for me, but I have three main writing goals for this year:
1) Finish and publish KM6
2) Edit and publish A STARTER BOYFRIEND
3) Write/finish writing another project (either my novella, ARABELLE WILD; or my novel, AROUND THE WORLD TONIGHT; OR my unfinished novel THE JADE BRACELET).
So many choices.
Things with KM6 are going slow at the moment. I've hit a patch of storyline that I don't really like. I'm leaving it in at the moment, but it will likely come out with editing. I thought I knew where I wanted this book (and any future ones) to go, but I'm really not sure anymore. That's probably because I haven't been writing (even though I'm currently on vacation!). Anyway, at this point I can't confidently say when KM6 will be available to read. Hopefully before Christmas 2014!
Anyway, cheers to all of our goals for this coming year.
