Finished with Nook editing!!

Today I finished putting my Nook edits into the computer! That's one big hurdle jumped. I'll have to go back to the halfway point and start reading out loud, but at least that's nearing the final stage. Now I have about 290 pages to read out loud and edit (hopefully trimming down excess words too). For my Nook edits I cut 4,200 words (rounding up a bit) and I think that's around 10 pages. [However, I just realized that I've actually cut 100 pages total from the first draft. I forgot that I reorganized it to end in a different spot. So, that's actually tons of progress.] I'm trying to remind myself not worry too much about length. I just want a tight story. So, yay! I'm one step closer now.

  1. Congrats!! So once you're finished with the oral editing does that mean you're done editing it all together? At least for this round?

  2. Thanks! Yes, that does mean I'm done all together. I may go over the first 50 pages one more time, but then it's time to move on. I'm sure more editing will come at a future date (if it gets picked up by an agent). I'm just excited to be close to the end at this point.

  3. Have you narrowed down the list of agents yet? I know you were working on a query letter at one point.

  4. When I was researching them, I ranked them (or at least the top 14). I need to go over that list again since it's been a few months now. I haven't even touched the query letter since my first attempt. I should start working on both so I don't become overwhelmed. I'm still trying to figure out the "hook." I tried to explain the concept to a few friends this week and I'm not sure that I was at all successful. :/
