New Year, New Goals

Happy New Year, everyone!

I have a feeling that the beginning of this year is going to be a little chaotic for me, but I have three main writing goals for this year:

1) Finish and publish KM6
2) Edit and publish A STARTER BOYFRIEND
3) Write/finish writing another project (either my novella, ARABELLE WILD; or my novel, AROUND THE WORLD TONIGHT; OR my unfinished novel THE JADE BRACELET).

So many choices.

Things with KM6 are going slow at the moment. I've hit a patch of storyline that I don't really like. I'm leaving it in at the moment, but it will likely come out with editing. I thought I knew where I wanted this book (and any future ones) to go, but I'm really not sure anymore. That's probably because I haven't been writing (even though I'm currently on vacation!). Anyway, at this point I can't confidently say when KM6 will be available to read. Hopefully before Christmas 2014!

Anyway, cheers to all of our goals for this coming year.

  1. Happy New Year to you. Keep up the good work and I look forward to KM6 I read a lot and have found many good authors whose books I enjoy BUT you are still my all time favorite. Enjoy your vacation.

  2. Happy New Year! I hope you reach your goals this year!

And I don't know if you joined, but since you mentioned Starter Boyfriend, I think that is something that might fit into the smooch books genre quite well if you still wanted to try your hand at getting a 'traditional' publishing contract.

Its been years since I've read it but that might be something to think about although I'd look at what you'd get if you 'win' first and consider it against what you're making self-publishing.

And speaking of self-publishing I came across this and thought it was an interesting way to double check for typos in your stories:

Not sure how effective it'll be for her or how anyone else would do the prizes but I have to give it to her, that's one way to either 1. get new readers and 2. get her work looked over without shelling out big bucks for a copy editor.

    1. She's pretty smart with that contest! It really is a good cheap way to get your work edited. How's your New Year going so far? Mine has been slow on the writing side of things, but I hope to pick that back up soon (I feel like I keep saying that). I switched my workout schedule to morning, so I technically have time in the evenings to work, but I've been watching TV instead (shame on me).

As for Swoon, I don't think I'm going to participate. Right now things are going OK for my online books. It would be nice to get new readers, but I don't want to make my work exclusive anywhere. So yeah, I think I'm going to pass on that too.

    2. I'm actually spending January creating a writing plan (http://www.critiquecircle.com/blog.asp?blogID=92) and trying to put some incentives/accountability into place right now so once February starts it'll be butt in chair and I can write (research/outline/whatever stage I'm in of the writing process).

And how are the morning classes going for you? And TV has been quite good this season although i still have to get caught up on Elementary and Sherlock. I've finally given up on Supernatural, I just feel like they're telling the same story over and over again.

  3. In regards to Swoon Reads, finaly found more information on it outside of the articles written about the concept:

Going to give it a pass since certain aspects of it seem problematic and I thought I'd share.

  4. Just wanted to drop by and say how much I enjoy your KM series! I have them on my phone and it's my go-to for when I want to relax and read a bit. I followed your amazing work through fictionpress in the past and I can't wait the Starter Boyfriend- I remember how much I loved the evolution of the characters. Thanks again! I hope all your writing is going well!

    1. Hi Sarah! Thanks for leaving me a message ;) Writing is not really going well at the moment (it's not going at all) but I am making progress on my edit of A Starter Boyfriend! I hope that I can make that available in the next few months.
